Along the coast to Nazca

4 07 2008

Heading out of Lima we were very struck by the poverty in the shanty towns. People literally had a small area of land with a wicker kind of fence as it´s walls and no electricity or water. The more posh ones, if you can call them that, had brick walls and fresh water pumped in to a bucket like construct on their roofs.

On the way we stopped off at the Paracas national park and took a boat around the Ballesteras islands. We managed to see Humbolt penguins, seals, boobies, pelicans and Dolphins to name a few.

We were very struck by the dessert and how varied it was on the way to our hotel.

The hotel was set in lovely gardens in a traditional Spanish country house design. The helipad was set at the end of the gardens !!!!!
